Scholarships

The Gaston College Foundation stewards over 80 named annual and endowed scholarship funds for our students.  Because of the generosity of donors who are committed to investing in bright futures, the foundation has provided over $1,000,000 in scholarship assistance over the past five years for Gaston College students to achieve their dreams.

We are grateful to those whose generosity is
empowering others to achieve their dreams.

Establishing a Scholarship
  • Annual Scholarships

A named annual scholarship fund may be established in honor or memory of a loved one for a minimum commitment of $1,500.  This gift amount fully funds an annual $500 scholarship for two academic years and establishes the required $500 reserve to maintain a named fund.  If a fund balance falls below the minimum required $1,000 for reserve and for award allocation for more than 12 months, any remaining balance will be rolled into the foundation’s general scholarship fund for distribution.

Scholarship funds may be established to benefit any number of program areas and students.  Some donors prefer to build academic, geographic, field of study, or need restrictions into their gift agreements.

After a review of the terms and conditions of the scholarship, the Office of Student Services & Enrollment Management selects the best-qualified student(s).

If you are interested in establishing a named fund, please contact the Foundation office.

  • Endowed Scholarships

Named endowed scholarship funds are a wonderful way to honor or memorialize a loved one in perpetuity.

Endowed scholarships are endowed with a minimum gift of $10,000, which may be gifted over a five-year period. The donor determines the parameters under which the scholarship is established and named. Donors may choose to leave their scholarships “unrestricted” in order to assure that all available funds can be matched to the broadest pool of eligible students. Some donors prefer to build academic, geographic, field of study, or need restrictions into their gift agreements.

After a review of the terms and conditions of the scholarship, the Office of Student Services & Enrollment Management selects the best-qualified student(s).

Scholarship amounts awarded to students from endowed funds vary according to the annual earnings realized.
