Since the Foundation’s inception in 1968, the generosity of its donors has been a primary catalyst for new facility and program growth at the College. Campuses, buildings, classrooms and scholarships bear the names of those who have selflessly given of themselves in support of our students.

Unrestricted Support
As a publicly funded institution in the state of North Carolina, Gaston College receives a significant portion of its operating and capital support from public sources. While we are grateful for the investment made by tax-payers in our students, we are also finding it increasingly challenging to fully support the educational needs of our students and community without the addition of private resources to the bottom line.
The Gaston College Foundation provides support for the institution on an annual basis to give the College’s leadership the ability and flexibility to address areas of greatest need. Gifts allow the College to maintain its facilities, upgrade technology and infrastructure, acquire instructional equipment and materials, provide professional development opportunities, support cultural activities, and meet student financial challenges, among other needs.
Consider making an unrestricted gift today to help us meet the greatest need.

Designated Program Support
Student Emergency Fund
Gaston College awards $20,000 annually to students in need of assistance with tuition, books or other educational supplies. These funds are allocated on a case-by-case basis through an application process managed by the office of Persistence and Retention. Since its inception a decade ago, this fund has enabled over 2500 to reach their academic goals instead of dropping out of school due to financial stresses.Gaston College Foodbank
Gaston College students come from all walks of life and some of our students need an extra hand up to reach their educational goal. The College is committed to meeting our students’ needs, whether through academic assistance in the classroom or through support for some of life’s most basic needs, including food. The campus foodbank is located on the Dallas campus in order to provide easy access, and is open to any student without question.WSGE 91.7fm
The station’s slogan, “Your Independent Music Source” aptly describes WSGE’s programming. Listeners are treated to a mix of music not commonly heard on commercial radio. An operating unit of Gaston College, WSGE, a volunteer-driven station operating around the clock, began broadcasting in October of 1980. With a potential broadcasting reach of 550,000 persons in approximately 10 counties, WSGE has become a favorite spot on the radio dial for those who enjoy music not often found elsewhere. As a public radio station, and an NPR affiliate, philanthropic support of the station is critical to maintain its programming.Program Support
Faculty at Gaston College do amazing things inside and out of our classrooms to engage, stretch and inspire students. If you have a program that is close to your heart because of a teacher who inspired you, a gift may be designated in support of their efforts. (Examples include: art program, nursing program, BLET program, etc. . . ) -
Annual Scholarship Support
The Gaston College Foundation stewards approximately 35 annually supported scholarship funds for our students. A named annual scholarship can be established with a minimum commitment of $1,500, which would fund one $500 scholarship for three consecutive academic years. In order for an annual scholarship to remain active, a minimum balance of $500 must be maintained in the fund. Annual payment reminders can be sent to scholarship donors by the Foundation.

Endowment Fund Support
Endowed funds are donor established investment accounts created to offer lasting financial support to Gaston College students, faculty, staff, departments and programs. Named endowments recognize a donor, an area of study, or someone a donor wishes to honor in perpetuity. Endowments may be established to provide income for virtually any college area or purpose. The majority of endowment funds currently held are designated for student scholarships.

Capital Project Support
Gaston College has been very fortunate over its history to have been the beneficiary of the leadership and philanthropy of so many community-minded Gaston and Lincoln County citizens. This is evidenced by the names we proudly display on campus facilities throughout the institution including Albright, Beam, Belk, Cannon, Cochrane, Craig, Comer, Dalpiaz, Kimbrell, Morris, Myers, Pearson, Pharr, Robinson, Rauch and Wyss. Were it not for the generosity of our community we would not be able to continue to maintain and grow our educational spaces at the level which has come to be expected of us.
We are proud to be able to continue to serve the needs of our community because of the willingness of leaders to support our capital efforts.
